Why Jeff Switched Sides
In 2007, the subprime mortgage crisis was tearing through Wisconsin households — and Jeff was sitting on the other side of the table. As National Litigation Director for Chase's home equity division, then First Vice President & Senior Counsel for Countrywide's treasury bank, and later Vice President & Senior Counsel for M&I Bank's equipment finance group, he built and ran the very collections and litigation playbooks that creditors used against borrowers. He watched the 2007–2010 collapse from inside the boardroom, and learned exactly how far a bank can — and will — go to pursue a struggling family or business. That insider knowledge is what makes The Fields Group different today: Jeff isn't guessing how a creditor's attorney will respond — he's been that attorney. Every strategy he builds for a Wisconsin client now is built on the same playbook he once built for the other side.

PHILOSOPHY & CLIENT COMMITMENT
Jeff personally reviews and signs every Chapter 128 filing that leaves this office — not a junior associate, not an outside processing center. Behind him is a 20-person team, and every client is assigned a dedicated paralegal as a single point of contact from the first call to the final payment. It's a deliberate departure from the call-center model used by national debt settlement companies: here, you're a name and a story, not a file number.
Many times, circumstances in life — job loss, divorce, a business downturn — are out of our control. The Chapter 128 doesn't care how you got into debt. It was written to give Wisconsinites a fighting chance to get out.
